Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.  ~J.K.

I will write a very brief summary especially as this series is so well known that it doesn't need big introduction.

On a special night a wizard boy was born with a heroic destiny set out for him. He was the chosen one. He was the only one who ever survived Voldemort's attack. Harry is left with his uncle and aunty who mistreat him because of their fear of all things magic. Harry only finds out he is a wizard on his 11th birthday and from then he finds himself in all kinds of trouble in his new school, Hogwarts.

The series of Harry Potter is my favourite series of all time. J.K Rowling is in my opinion one of the best modern writers. Although I must admit that even being such a fan of this series I am not sure how the first book got its reputation. The first two books are quite small and simple and yet they apalled to a large audience. What I really like about the story is the way that it grows with the reader. Not only do the characters become older but the intended audience and themes brought up with each book becomes more deep and relationships stronger. Each character is really developed until we believe them to be so realistic and as if we know them.

It amazes me the way that J.K. Rowling wrote the series. Each book is not just another separate add, jumbling up ideas just to make money from desperate fans. Instead each book is linked. Little things that we learn from the beginning become an important part of the plot towards the end. All they clues are presented from the start but only in the latter books do we understand the full meaning. It is as if Rowling wrote everything at the same time or even that she started from the end, however we know that this is not true which just makes it even more amazing how someone can write like that.

One thing that is so different from other books that I really like is the character of Hermione. Girls are usually portrayed as weak and books don't usually point out qualities to being the nerd. This is the exact opposite of Hermione. Although Harry is the protagonist and the 'hero' we know that Hermione is the one behind all the plots and the achievements, she is the one that leads the three into battle prepared.

Reading this it is obvious to say I am a huge fan of Harry  Potter. THIS IS A MUST READ!!
